
MALAYAN Banking Bhd (Maybank) has completed the issuance of RM1.2 billion in Tier 2 subordinated sukuk murabahah under its expanded sukuk programme of up to RM30 billion.
In a Bursa Malaysia filing, the group said the issuance comprises three tranches with tenures of 10, 12 and 15 years, carrying profit rates of 3.78%, 3.87% and 3.95% respectively.
The instruments feature non-call periods of five, seven and 10 years.
The sukuk will qualify as Tier 2 capital under Bank Negara Malaysia’s capital adequacy framework, strengthening Maybank’s capital position.
Proceeds will be used for Shariah-compliant investments, funding Islamic business activities of its subsidiaries and overseas branches, as well as other approved Islamic business purposes.
The sukuk is rated AA1 with a stable outlook by RAM Rating Services Bhd and carries semi-annual profit payments. –TMR
