SME Bank and Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to empower Malaysian entrepreneurs, particularly micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), through a strategic partnership that enhances access to financing, capacity building, and digital enablement.
The collaboration is aimed at accelerating entrepreneurial growth and supporting Malaysia’s nation-building agenda through the roles of development financial institutions (DFIs).
Acting group president and CEO of SME Bank, Datuk Dr Mohammad Hardee Ibrahim, said the partnership will allow BSN’s microfinance customers to benefit from SME Bank’s digital tools such as the ScoreXcess financing portal, developed by its training arm CEDAR.
He added that SME Bank will continue supporting SMEs across key sectors through targeted funds such as the SME Technology Transformation Fund (STTF), Pembiayaan Ekosistem Payung, and Bank Negara Malaysia’s High Tech & Green Facility (HTG).
Since 2021, SME Bank’s digital platforms – ScoreXcess, ELSA, and ODELA – have helped nearly 5,000 SMEs access financing, market opportunities, and structured assessments.
The ScoreXcess platform alone has received 89 applications worth RM3.2 million in financing requests to date. — TMR
