TAN Chong Motor Group has announced a partnership with SAIC GM Wuling (SGM Wuling) to launch the TQ WULING automotive brand in Malaysia, marking a major move into the affordable electric vehicle (EV) market.
The collaboration was formalised at a ceremony officiated by Transport Minister Tuan Loke Siew Fook.
The partnership’s debut model, the TQ WULING Bingo is slated for launch in the fourth quarter of 2025 and will be priced below RM100,000.
“TQ WULING reflects our commitment to innovation and sustainability in delivering quality mobility solutions accessible to all Malaysians,” said Tan Chong Motor Group group CEO Daniel Ho.
“Our goal is to position the TQ WULING brand as a preferred brand for value-driven and urban drivers,” he added.
PT SGMW Motor Indonesia president Tang Wensheng said “SGM Wuling has always been dedicated to building high-quality practical and affordable vehicles. The partnership allows us to bring our EV technology to Malaysia with confidence.”
The TQ WULING Bingo and future models will be locally assembled at Tan Chong’s Segambut plant, with domestic sales to start and export potential in the pipeline.
Tan Chong will manage nationwide distribution and aftersales, while local sourcing and production are expected to bolster Malaysia’s auto ecosystem. — TMR
