KUALA TERENGGANU – A female civil servant lost RM22,033.56 after being deceived by a non-existent investment scheme.
Kuala Terengganu District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Azli Mohd. Noor said that initially, the woman was attracted by an investment advertisement on Facebook at 10 am, June 15.
“He then contacted an unknown individual claiming to be a representative of the investment scheme company before paying RM300 as initial investment capital at 9.24pm, Thursday last week.”
“The woman was later connected to another individual who was also alleged to be an officer of the investment scheme,” he said here today.
Azli said the civil servant also followed the suspect’s instructions to make several other payments via bank transfer between 1.57pm last Friday and 10.33am yesterday.
“The victim finally realized he had been deceived when he was instructed to continue making payments even though he still did not receive any profit,” he said.
Azli advises the public to be cautious because there is no investment scheme that can guarantee quick profits at unreasonable rates. – KOSMO! ONLINE
