PHILIPPINE President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has called for the courtesy resignation of all his Cabinet secretaries in a push to “recalibrate” his administration following his slate’s underwhelming performance at last week’s Senate election.
“This is not business as usual,” Marcos said in a statement released by his communications office on Thursday. “The people have spoken, and they expect results — not politics, not excuses. We hear them, and we will act.”
The request for courtesy resignations would give Marcos “elbow room to evaluate the performance of each department and determine who will continue to serve in line with his administration’s recalibrated priorities,” the statement said. –BLOOMBERG
