BERJAYA Land Bhd has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with SIBS Sdn Bhd, a modular construction specialist and Malaysian unit of Sweden’s SIBS AB Group, to deliver climate-resilient housing in Greenland.
Through its wholly owned subsidiary Berjaya Greenland Invest A/S, the company is planning a modular housing project in Nuuk, Greenland’s capital, with a gross development value (GDV) of RM117 million.
The project, currently in its planning and design phase, will consist of 66 apartment units across eight blocks, with built-up areas ranging from 2,152 to 4,305 sq ft.
Construction is scheduled to begin in July 2026 and is expected to complete within two years.
Berjaya Land said the initiative aligns with its long-term vision of developing sustainable, high-quality, and cost-effective homes using modular construction, which enables faster deployment and greater efficiency.
Group CEO Syed Ali Shahul Hameed said the project demonstrates the group’s commitment to smart, adaptable development while contributing to local capacity-building in Greenland.
The developer is also in discussions with the Municipality of Nuuk to explore a second development phase, which may include a hotel and hotel residences to support the country’s expanding tourism sector. — TMR
