THE Inland Revenue Board (IRB) has identified 5,800 taxpayers who failed to comply with income tax submission requirements, following a review of e-Invois records involving RM484 million in previously unreported income.
IRB said in a statement that the discrepancy was uncovered through data monitoring under the MyInvois system, which tracks business transactions conducted since the nationwide implementation of e-Invois on Aug 1, 2024.
“As a result of targeted compliance actions, the affected individuals and companies have since submitted their income tax return forms (BNCP) and declared income for previous assessment years, yielding an additional RM82 million in tax revenue,” it said.
The board reiterated that it is committed to fostering voluntary and continuous tax compliance, and urged all taxpayers — especially those involved in business transactions — to regularly update their tax records in accordance with relevant guidelines.
“To avoid enforcement action, taxpayers must ensure full compliance with the e-Invois implementation as outlined in the official guidelines,” it added.
As of July 30, more than 413 million e-Invois have been issued nationwide. Over 83,000 taxpayers have participated in the system, covering mandatory adopters from phases one to three, as well as voluntary participants from Phases 4 and 5.
IRB said the strong uptake reflects growing public acceptance of the e-Invois mechanism, which forms part of Malaysia’s broader digitalisation strategy to enhance tax transparency.
Taxpayers whose grace period has expired are now required to adopt e-Invois fully and accurately, in line with IRB’s e-Invois compliance schedule.
To support taxpayers in implementing e-Invois, IRB has set up several communication channels. Taxpayers may visit any IRB office in person to seek assistance.
They may also contact the dedicated e-Invois Help Desk, which operates 24 hours daily, at 03-8682 8000. In addition, real-time assistance is available through the MyInvois Live Chat platform. General queries may be sent via email to [email protected].
Taxpayers may also submit feedback or requests for assistance using the MyInvois Customer Feedback Form, which can be accessed at https://feedback.myinvois.hasil.gov.my.
Further information and resources on the e-Invois system are available on HASiL’s official website at www.hasil.gov.my.
