HSS Engineers Bhd (HEB) said its associate, HSS Integrated Sdn Bhd (HSSI), has secured a role in a general consultancy joint venture for the Davao Public Transport Modernisation Project in the Philippines.
In a bourse filing, HEB said HSSI has entered into a contract agreement with the Department of Transportation, Republic of the Philippines, as part of a joint venture (JV) with Japan’s Oriental Consultants Global Co Ltd (OCG). OCG is the lead partner, while HSSI is a JV member.
Under the contract, the OCG-HSSI JV will provide consultancy services for Contract Package No. 9: General Consultant for the public transport modernisation initiative in Davao.
“The JV will provide general consultant services encompassing project and contract management, risk and quality control, interface and communication management, environmental and social aspects, economic benefit review, tender support, and anti-corruption compliance,” the group said.
“It will also oversee civil works through design reviews, construction monitoring, quality assurance, safety, and cost management. Additionally, it will manage diesel/EV bus procurement, including design review, testing, inspection, site preparation, and commissioning,” it added.
The portion of the project value attributable to HSSI is estimated at US$4.54 million (approximately RM19.27 million), comprising US$4.01 million in professional fees and US$534,400 in reimbursable expenses.
The project commenced in May 2025 and is expected to run for 42 months.
HEB noted that the work will be carried out jointly by HSSI and HSS Engineering Sdn Bhd (HSSE), its wholly owned subsidiary, under an exclusive teaming arrangement.
According to the group, the project is expected to contribute positively to its revenue, earnings and net assets from FY2025 through FY2028, and will be funded via internally generated funds and/or external borrowings. — TMR
