KUALA LUMPUR — CelcomDigi Bhd today announced the appointment of deputy chief executive officer (CEO) Albern Murty as acting CEO starting Sept 1, 2025, as CEO Datuk Idham Nawawi (picture) is stepping down due to personal reasons.
In a statement, CelcomDigi said Idham’s tenure concludes on Aug 31 after three years of leading the management team through the foundational years of integration following the merger of Celcom and Digi on Nov 30, 2022.
The mobile network operator said Idham will continue to support the company as advisor to the board until Nov 30, 2025, supporting Albern and the leadership team during this transition period.
Albern brings over 22 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, including seven years as CEO of Digi.Com Bhd.
“The board of CelcomDigi will commence a formal search process for the next CEO, considering both internal and external candidates to ensure the strongest possible leadership to guide the company into its next chapter,” it added.
Idham joined Celcom Axiata Bhd (now known as Celcom Bhd) on Sept 1, 2018, where he led the company’s transformation, revitalised its performance, and inculcated a new way of work.
He was also instrumental in driving the Celcom and Digi merger throughout the planning process, culminating in regulatory approvals and the formation of CelcomDigi. — BERNAMA
