EPIC Games Inc.’s hit game Fortnite has returned to Apple Inc.’s App Store in the US after more than four years, following a fierce legal battle between the two companies.
The game developer asked a court earlier this month to force Apple to approve access to Fortnite, which it said was still blocked from the platform despite a ruling in its favor. US District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers said Monday that Apple should resolve the dispute or have a company official appear before her.

Epic and Apple jointly filed a notice on Tuesday saying they had “resolved all issues” pertaining to a motion-to-enforce request from last week.
Apple had banned Fortnite in 2020 after Epic offered gamers an alternative payment method for the title’s in-game currency. The system operated outside the App Store, violating Apple’s policies.
After a drawn-out legal battle, Gonzalez Rogers ordered Apple to let app developers collect payments outside its App Store. Apple had violated a court order that required it to allow third-party payment options, she said early May.
Epic submitted Fortnite for App Store approval in the US on May 9. The approval process took significantly longer than Apple’s typical 24 hours, prompting the complaint that it was blocked. The removal of Fortnite from the platform cut off access for more than a billion iPhone and iPad customers.
Separately, Epic had accused Apple of removing Fortnite from marketplaces in the European Union that operate outside the App Store. Apple has rejected that assertion.
Epic said on Tuesday that the game was coming back to those stores as well. Apple didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.–BLOOMBERG
