THE MMC Friendship Half Marathon 2025 has attracted 6,000 participants from Malaysia and Singapore at its inaugural event on May 31.
The event featured three race categories, 21.1km 10km and 5km, catering to all runners – from competitive athletes to casual joggers and families.
Johor Youth, Sports, Entrepreneur Development, and Cooperatives committee chairman Mohd Hairi Mad Shah; Johor Unity, Culture and Heritage committee chairman Raven Kumar Krishnasamy; , Kota Iskandar ADUN Datuk Pandak Ahmad and Deputy Police Chief of Iskandar Puteri Superintendent Mohd Azlan Abdul Kadir flag-off the runners.
They were joined by MMC Corporation Bhd Group MD Tan Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh and Forest City Regional VP Ir. Syarul Izam Sarifudin.
“The MMC Friendship Half Marathon is more than just a sporting event – it is a platform that brings people together, promotes healthy lifestyles, and showcases Johor as a premier sports tourism destination,” Mohd Hairi said.
Themed around health, fitness, environmental stewardship, and community spirit, the marathon brought together families, friends, and fitness enthusiasts in a vibrant atmosphere of unity and celebration.
The event aligns with the broader vision of the Johor state government and Forest City’s developer to attract more visitors and economic activity to the region.
“We are proud to host this meaningful event in Forest City. This marathon truly embodies the spirit of friendship and community.
“We are grateful for the overwhelming support and participation, and we remain committed to fostering unity, wellness and regional cooperation through events like this,” said Che Khalib.
Apart from the lush greenery, participants enjoyed a variety of family-friendly activities such as balloon dart, tin can alley, inflatable children playground, wellness booths, and food and beverage offerings.

The MMC Friendship Half Marathon 2025, highlighted Johor’s potential as a sports and tourism hub, contributing to the local economy.
