MONROE, La., May 27, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Northeast Delta Human Services Authority is hosting “Neighbors in Service: A Veterans Tribute” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at Chennault Aviation and Military Museum Pavilion, 701 Kansas Lane, in Monroe.
The event will be a day for our Northeast Louisiana veterans and their families to connect with Northeast Delta Human Services Authority’s network of services and foster community awareness of the unique challenges veterans face.
NEDHSA Executive Director Dr. Monteic A. Sizer said the agency has always worked to serve the veteran population and meet its needs.
“We want veterans and their family members to see our agency as partners and allies,” Dr. Sizer said. “We see your sacrifices and we are here to help.”
NEDHSA plans to partner further with businesses, colleges and universities, nonprofit agencies and other governmental systems to help bring much-needed awareness and services to veterans living in Louisiana’s Delta.
NEDHSA’s Operation Leave No Veteran Behind initiative provides increased awareness and support and highlights services for the needs of veterans and their families in our 12-parish region. The agency recently launched its Veterans Suicide Awareness campaign, which aims to raise awareness and encourage community support for veterans and their families while highlighting the strategic approach to improving veteran health outcomes.
Saturday’s event will include live music, vendors, free food and games.
Katie Terrell, special assistant to the executive director, said, “We will stand with veterans and offer services that will help fight against the unique challenges veterans and their family members may face. As a community, we can build a stronger Northeast Louisiana, and our veterans are an important building block to doing just that.”
Dr. Sizer added, “We will do our part to ensure that our region’s military veterans receive quality mental health, addictive disorder, primary care and related social supports such as housing, employment and food. No military veteran should ever be abandoned, alone, suicidal, hungry or homeless. They should have a safety net that meets their needs.”
