TELEKOM Malaysia Bhd’s unit, TM Technology Services Sdn Bhd (TM Tech), has today signed a binding term sheet with U Mobile Sdn Bhd for a 10-year contract valued at RM2.4 billion.
The agreement covers the provision of fibre connectivity as a 5G mobile backhaul service to support U Mobile’s 5G rollout, aligning with the government’s push for accelerated 5G network deployment in Malaysia.
TM Tech and U Mobile will finalise the definitive agreement within four months.
TM stated its commitment to infrastructure sharing and providing integrated telecom solutions, with no significant risks foreseen beyond operational execution.
The contract is expected to positively contribute to TM Group’s future earnings without impacting its share capital or immediate financials. — TMR
