SunCon’s 1Q profit more than doubles on data centre project surge; declares 5 sen dividend

SUNWAY Construction Group Bhd (SunCon) reported a more than two-fold jump in net profit for the first quarter ended March 31, 2025.

Revenue surged 132% to RM1.4 billion, driven by accelerated progress in several data centre projects that boosted profitability.

The group declared a 5 sen interim dividend, payable on June 25.

SunCon said it continues to strengthen its position in the advanced technology facilities space and is currently managing five data centre projects for four major multinational clients.

Despite some global pullbacks in data centre investments, SunCon’s project sites are progressing well, and its tender pipeline remains active.

Looking forward, the company sees opportunities from potential easing of AI chip export restrictions and is bidding for major infrastructure and industrial projects, including the Penang LRT and airport expansion.

SunCon’s outstanding order book stands at RM6.65 billion, supported by RM2.21 billion in new orders secured so far this year. –TMR
