MAXIM Malaysia, which was recently ordered to halt operations for allegedly running without proper authorisation, said it is currently engaging with the authorities on the matter.
In a statement, the company confirmed that it continues to operate as usual across the country and remains committed to complying with all relevant laws while cooperating closely with the government.
“The discussions prioritise an immediate resolution without compromising the reputation and trust built over the past five years with users, partners, vendors and other stakeholders.
“Public safety has always been our priority since we began operating in Malaysia. When users choose the Maxim app, we want them to feel safe and confident in the system and services we provide,” the company said.
The Transport Ministry (MOT) had earlier directed Russian e-hailing platforms InDrive and Maxim to cease operations, effective July 24, citing alleged unauthorised service provision.
Maxim, which operates under an intermediary licence, said it functions as a technology platform that connects users to partner drivers and service providers.
“All driver registrations go through a strict vetting process conducted by trained officers to ensure compliance with the guidelines set by the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) and the MOT.
“Our thorough inspection procedures reflect our commitment to transparency and public safety.
“Since launching in Malaysia, Maxim has positively contributed to the local economy and communities.
“We have also partnered driving schools nationwide to help new drivers obtain their Public Service Vehicle (PSV) licences more efficiently,” it said.
The company added that it has also been working with the Road Transport Department (JPJ) to ensure its drivers understand national traffic laws and regulations.
“We also stress our commitment to inclusive economic participation, which is why our app includes persons with disabilities (PWD)-friendly features to make our services more accessible.
“Our platform supports various service providers in earning a living and helping their families maintain financial stability. We also continue to invest in IT development to contribute to the growth of the country’s digital economy,” it said.
