A SPECIAL task force will be set up to examine non-criminal aspects of the fatal road accident involving members of the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) at Teluk Intan, Perak, particularly vehicle safety issues under the purview of the Transport Ministry (MOT).
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said apart from the police’s ongoing criminal investigation, this additional task force will ensure a comprehensive review from all relevant angles.
“The MOT has been directed to complete its findings within one month and present the report before any further action is taken,” he said at a post-Cabinet press briefing today.
Fahmi also confirmed that the affected personnel are covered under a group insurance scheme, with compensation expected to be disbursed soon.
“In addition, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail will visit five families in Perak today and provide RM2,000 in immediate emergency aid to each family,” he said.
