NEW YORK — The US dollar increased in late trading on Thursday, Xinhua reported.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.35 per cent to 98.734 at 3pm (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro declined to 1.1584 dollars from 1.1628 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was up to 1.3410 dollars from 1.3409 US dollars in the previous session.
The US dollar bought 148.73 Japanese yen, up from 147.94 Japanese yen in the previous session. The US dollar advanced to 0.8057 Swiss francs from 0.8018 Swiss francs, and it increased to 1.3750 Canadian dollars from 1.3702 Canadian dollars.
